I have an old scanner and mp3 player with xp drivers. Can I use some virtual machine thingie to do this? Don't really want to have to dual boot, and reboot every time I want to use the scanner.

(No, there aren't any updated drivers, cuz I guess they're that old)

If you're running Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can install the XP Mode:
    Download Windows XP Mode

If you have Home Premium... well... there are ways to make it work that are easily found by a web search. :p

Before doing anything fancy, connect them and run Windows Update. It has a repository of drivers to make some old stuff function. It may even work without fetching anything from Windows Update.

I'm pretty sure VMWare Player can do this even if you have Windows 7 Home Premium, plus its free as well.

well u can install xp drivers in win 7 but you will need the driver for the same kind of os you are running ie x64 or x86(32)... now i am not sure all what would work but atleast you can try... open device manager then press on any device... from there go to the top and press action then add legacy hardware... try that
