    Hi all.
Just got my new Dell XPS M1210 and planning to migrate
apps and data files from my PC to the notebook using my LAN
(Netgear router). Has anyone used Laplink's PCMover?
If not, any suggestions for alternatives?
I did search the forums and so far nobody reports using it.
    Thanks in advance.

I would just use a flash drive personally.

Or hard drive if you have larger files.

Airman and ZaZ : Thanks for your response.
Transferring files can be done over the network. The main issue is migrating applications and their settings from the PC
to the laptop. Meanwhile I read bad reviews at CNet.
I guess there's no alternative for a clean new install.

You could check out Aloha Bob's PC Mover. It's always gotten high marks. But, if you're moving OEM apps, you might run into problems. It is possible to link the applications to the hardware specs so that you can't run things on multiple machines. You may have to call the vendor and get new codes to run them on a new machine. It's usually not an issue, as long as you're only running one copy (or whatever your licensed number is).
