I'm just curious if any other Windows users also use Windows Phone???
I've been using Windows Phone 7 for almost nine months and I'm VERY happy with it!![]()

I've been using Windows Phone 7 since it came out. I've owned a Samsung Focus and Nokia Lumia 900, my next will be the Lumia 920 running Phone 8....I love it, my wife liked it so much she gave up her iPhone for a Phone 7 device.
-
I have a LG E900 since March (friend gave it to me for free!)
I genuinely love the product but the software is so barebones (brightness has 3 choices? no audio normalization, equalizer or power user options?) and Zune software is beyond stupid:
-shows less songs per screen than iTunes or Winamp
-Always shows marketplace results in search which slows down search response.
-uses more resources
Making playlists isn't as easy due to previous points and if I sort playlist songs by artist it doesn't save like that. it reverts to how I chose it.
-
I still use the 1st gen Samsung Focus, and am looking forward to picking up an HTC 8X in a few months (as much as I like the idea of the Lumia 920, I think I'd benefit more from the wide-angle FFC on the 8X than I would from the RFC on the 920).
-
I've been using Windows Phone for a year now. Bought a used HTC HD2, so I could root it, install WP7 and try it out. Been using the Lumia 800 since Jan. Looking forward to either the HTC 8x or the Lumia 920. Personally, the visual aesthetic and feel are more important that the hardware inside. So, I lean toward the 8x for its profile and audio. The gloss of the 920 turns me off. Will see when they come out and I get a chance to handle both. I'm very excited for the platform.
-
I'm not using WP right now, but i plan to make the switch when WP8 rolls out, i've been holding on to my dumb phone until now for that reason. I hope my carrier will offer the Lumia 920, if so, i'll make the switch as soon as i can.

yep, the 920 is a Rogers exclusive...sorry (it could be a limited exclusive, meaning it would be available elsewhere after three months)
-
Statistically speaking, the answer is no. Just about nobody uses a Windows Phone, despite the fact that Nokia is essentially giving the things away. Windows Phone has a market share that's tiny, and that is getting smaller. You figure out where that picture leads you...
-
It was getting smaller because the Windows mobile 6 user base was shrinking. It's actually on the rise now. Still, a very small percentage of the overall cellphone market at present, but growing. Microsoft seems to be concentrating it's efforts in Europe and Asia at the moment, plus with the "was metro, now not metro" ecosystem most analysts predict significant growth in the west with Windows Phone elipsing IOS by 2016. Now, do I believe that? No, but I think we will see Windows Phone capture more than 10 percent of the market for certain. As someone who has used all three phone OSs, I actually prefer Windows Phone.
-
Hmm, yes, you're right, looking at the newest data (Windows Phone only, mind you, not including Windows mobile 6), there is a bit of an uptick in the last few months, and the projections do look up. We will see how things shake out, but at a share in the low single digits, things remain precarious. This is doubly true, and we might even use the word "dire", when looking at Nokia's financials...

Uhmm, believe it or not, yes, I did look at the graph that I linked to. Did you? You do realize that Q4 2010 is where the graph for Windows Phone starts, right? So, you're saying that in fact Windows Phone did gain market share above zero? That is an amazing insight, I tell you!
Alright, now, why don't we look at the actual graph: See those dips there? Come back once you have actually taken a look. -

I use HTC HD2 and Windows Phone 7.8 (with a new start screen and resizable hubs) - still a great device! If I remember correctly I had Windows Mobile 6.5 (the most versatile mobile OS I ever used, but GUI was not so good), then all kinds of Androids in dual boot with Windows mobile, then I tried Ubuntu on it (I had no USB cable with power so it was useless, but it booted
), and finally I have Windows Phone all versions since 7.1 if I am not mistaken. I even had Windows Phone 7.5 and Android in a dualboot. And still preffered WP btw.
It still has some features missing and most software is not as good as I want it to be, but GUI and overall useability as a smartphone is beyond anything else on market in my opinion (and yes I have also iphone and android devices available to play with).
Cheers,

But, you might enjoy Thurrott's take on the current and future success of Windows Phone
" While we’re speaking of recently completed Microsoft products, it’s hard not to escape the fact that Microsoft’s smartphone platform hasn’t taken off in any meaningful way in the market."
" It’s not that customers dislike Windows Phone. They just don’t seem to care. And there’s no sign that will change any time soon."
" Aside from the aforementioned “Surface phone” Hail Mary pass, Microsoft does have a few options open to it should Windows Phone continue to tank."
Mind you, this is Thurrott talking... -

Pirx - do you own/use a Windows Phone device? If yes, please actually contribute. If no, why are you posting here? We KNOW that Windows Phone has a struggling marketshare and is up against two giants. Why are you pointing out the obvious when it wasn't even the point of the thread? You took a conversation where people go to share why they liked their device and mobile OS and made it negative.
So... thanks for raining on our fun. -
Bought a Nokia Lumia 900 a few weeks ago, no issues.
-
Current HTC Titan user, generally happy with the experience.
Occasionally the screen is non-responsive, and web-browsing/GPS really drains the battery. -
-
-
-
The data signal occasionally gets stuck too, so I may have to refresh a page quite a few times to get it loading even though the 4G signal bar appears to be at full strength.
There is a restaurant that I really enjoy, the problem is that my phone never gets any signal there no matter where I sit. (No Cellular Data/WIFI either)
However, I have seen other patrons talking on their phones inside the restaurant. I never bothered to ask what phone/carrier they are using, so I don't know whether I should blame AT&T or my phone for that reception deadzone. -
Got an HTC 7 Pro, love the OS, hate the hardware. Looking forward to a better selection of WP8 phones on US Cellular. I'm due for an upgrade in March.

(1) tiny screen
(2) poor-quality screen
(3) AWFUL camera (and I use the camera on my phone a lot)
I'm not a big fan of the slider form factor for phones, but it was the only WP7 on US Cellular when I got it. I'd rather have a 4.3"-4.5" slate than a 3.x" slider. -
Monday, I hope to get my pre-orders in for two HTC Windows Phone 8X devices on AT&T.
-
wow....way to ruin my day two weeks later....
lumia 920 for Rogers only???? Has there been any news of this being a limited time exclusive? I seem to remember alot of phones being 'exclusive' over here (Vancouver specifically, but I imagine its the same Canadawide).
for those of you good with this mobile broadband stuff, does the lumia 920 have a chance of becoming available on Wind? I'm so sick of Bell. -
Couldn't you just buy a SIM card for Wind (assuming GSM) and stick it in a 920? Afaik, I could do a similar thing to my 900 if I wanted to leave AT&T for T-Mobile. Or is there some sort of garbage hardware lock-in? -
provided the the cell modem in the phone supports it and its unlockable, then it should be yes.
WIND is on the AWS band and I'm pretty sure I saw that being supported. Based on that knowledge, I'm pretty sure it should work, but I'd rather not assume and would prefer an expert opinion. -
Just got myself a Lumia 800 in July. Before everyone hounds me for not waiting for WP8, I came across this Lumia selling for $250 (plus $20 to unlock it) and I've been super happy with it ever since, plus I don't see anything in WP8 that truly appeals to me to wait.
But like I said, using a Telus-branded Lumia 800 on the Fido network and my only issue is the non-working MMS and no Network Setup app for Canada but other than that, it runs super smoothly. -
I called AT&T yesterday, the rep says she has no information regarding whether current HTC Titan users or other WP7.5 phones will get the 7.8 system update. I am worried...

-
My friend is using this phone, and we both think it is time to change my iPhone to Lumia 920, 3GS is out of date.
-
I am buying Lumia 920 or HTC 8X the day they reach the store near me. Win 8 with its beautiful interface is mouth watering and I cant wait to get my hands on. Don't think I will miss my Android!

If you also have a Xbox 360, you should consider installing Xbox SmartGlass...it will take advantage of your Windows Phone or tablet

I hope WP 8 has audio normalization. I play my music at my work (it's a cafe) and it's annoying to adjust the volume every few songs
-
I'm pretty much set on Windows Phone. Now for my pesky contract to expire...
