    well...it might have but i haven't really noticed it since i'm running 4GB of ram and never use all 4gb. besides, i'm sure that if programs need it, vista will just allocate the ram back to the programs.

    I, too, have 4GB of RAM; but my usage has jumped from 25% to 34%+;
    Maybe it's just me, but it's definetly increased some...

    Not that his has affected performancfe any.

    Damn,that`s like 1.5 GB gone to the OS.
    With 2 GB I`m pretty much screwed then if I would go with SP1...
    Glad I sticked with XP :D

    Not sure about increase after SP1 but with it, at idle, with a restart, I am at less than 700 MB with no Wifi or AV on. I turn those on and I am over 700 MB with 40 processes running I believe. I am not on my laptop right now so can't recall exactly but checked it a few days ago.

    Search "ram usage in vista" before posting threads like this. There are tons already. Google "vista memory mangement".

    I have 2 GB and I do just fine. No performance issues at all, with Vista using about 1 GB.

    If the ram usage increased when vista was upgraded to SP1, that was a good move by MS. As coolguy suggested, use google to find out why.

    No, because Vista uses about 40-50% of your total RAM. So for a computer with 2 GB RAM (like mine), it'll use under 1GB. For a computer with 4 GB RAM, it'll use under 2 GB and so on.
