Anyone had any experience with this security software?

I have been looking for a way to secure my laptop a bit more than just the standard password. Didn't want to go fulll encryption and can't stand bitlocker. Have been doing a lot of internet searching and found a nifty piece of hardware/software that does usb thumb key login. It's made by a company called rohos and it's called login key.

It uses a usb key that when plugged in and a pin code is entered, logs a user in. When unplugged it either locks or hibernates the machine. If you were to lose the key, it does allow for emergency login with a password.

It looks really good but I can't find any reviews on it.

Was wondering if anyone here has used it or knows of it. http://www.rohos.com/

I don't use it nor knew of it before you told me of it. If you can't find any reviews then i wouldn't buy/download that product. That website looks professionally shady too.

It does have a secure site for purchasing the product with http s: Which leads to the question, can any non-legitimate company get one, and are they safe?

Nice press release, still looking though for someone that has used it.

Or does anyone know of a program like that that does have good reviews and is certified for vista?

What happens if you lose your USB? I would be nice if you could activate another key online, or on another computer..

Be very wary of any news releases on newswiretoday.com, you can go in there right now and make a news release on anything you can think of for free, as far as the key, it would not be hard to make one yourself, the product, the site and the news release is fishy.
I run a whois and I wouldnt trust these guys with my credit card info, I have to be a little sceptical, I just wonder what else that software for the key does, one way to beat high tech is use low tech.

So any other suggestions for something like this? I want my vista notebook secure when I travel and I just don't trust the standard logon password.

Any good programs out there, open source/payware/etc...

    Hi TechMedic,

I think the software you've found looks good. Actually thanks for the link coz I needed smth. like this.
    - The Rohos Setup itself is signed by a digital signature. The signature is ok. I think its a good sense.
    - This program is localized into a lot of languages. they have german and french web sites.
    - On the forum i've found some good feedback and some bug reports. The support seems to works.
    - The billing page is forwarding me into Emetrix https service. I've checked Emetrix is a well known company like regnow.com or shareit.com. It's a subsidiary of DigitalRiver - registration service company. Actually on the German web site rohos.net they use shareit.
Anyway the credit card information will not be processed by rohos web site. I think its a good sence of security. And they advertise it on the order page.

I am already using the program for my Compaq Presario laptop. It works. I will let you know after 15 days how its.

    Paw.
