an external monitor on Windows Vista. I basically want a bigger monitor. Thanks

There should be a key shortcut (FN + something) to disable the internal monitor. Also, if you have an ATI card, you can go into the Catalyst Control Center and disable the internal monitor and only display on the external.
I'm sure the same goes for a nVidia card. -
I'd assume you could switch the external monitor to be the primary and turn off your LCD. This should be doable from your video card's menu.
I did something like that a year ago with Windows XP. I'm not familiar with Vista at all so I can't really help you. But I just went in my video card's menu and played around with the dual monitor settings until I got what I wanted. -
Just go to the power settings menu and edit the turn off screen to whatever you like
-
right click desktop -> personalize -> display settings -> and untick your laptop display as the main monitor
-
for HP press fn+f4
Anyone know how to turn off the laptop monitor when connecting
