This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Wondered if anyone is running FSecure internet security package with Vista. If so have you had any issues lately with update errors... "Windows failed to install one or more updates" and various error codes.
    Trying to piece together a strange problem, and I know of others with the same issue. As soon as I put FS onto the PC this problem occurs. I have done a fresh install of Vista and the same things happen as soon as FS is installed. I can recover to an Acronis image before FS and the updates and defragmenter (mentioned below) all work OK.
    Would you also try and open Windows defragmenter screen by just typing "defragmenter" into Vistas run box. If you click it does it go past the UAC screen and open or just revert back to the desktop.
