My DELL 1737 has been running like a champ, only today do I realize that Microsoft has released Vista SP 2 64-bit, But failed to tell anyone about it, or at least I missed the news.
Who is running it, any improvements slow downs etc??
-
Just a pack of updates i guess.. havent noticed any slow downs..

Yeah, what REB! said. SP2 is nothing more than a cumulative release of all the updates published since SP1. In other words, SP2 is just the latest version of SP1.
-
I am using it, nothing spectacular, just regular fixes.

It is not a bad upgrade. I'd say just let Windows Updates take care of it for you.
-
Installed it the other day on my Boss's computer. 64Bit OS too...haven't seen any real issues. But hey it's Vista
But nevertheless very nice link from Jayayess1190. -

Update: took about an hour to install, even with a 80GB SSD from Intel
But overall, on my 1737 Studio, T9400 2.53Ghz, with 6MB cache and 4GB of DDR2 800
It is running great, Improved start up and shut times noticeably. Overall a bit snappier
weird that it was not showing up when I hit Windows Update.
Overall great (so far) 64-Bit is the only way to go in 2009. -
I clean installed when it came out. Fixed icon issues I had before and a few other things.
-
Same here Ice Cold, better startup time and overall performance...

Vista SP2 was release two months ago or so. SP2 doesn't really do much other than provide a bunch of fixes. It's an improvement over SP1, but there is nothing earth-shattering about it.

We just put it on our Dell laptop and now it takes forever to boot, and the Toshiba I got recently also takes an incredibly long time to boot, I leave the room get food and come back and it is still not booted (I have gotten rid of all bloat ware and ran Glary Utilities)
-
Something is not right. Our Vista SP2 comps are quick to boot up and quick to shut down. Review your background processes and see which one is holding the starting back.
cheers ... -
It does fix something from SP1.
It slowdown my boot-up and fasten my start-up.
It also fix the RMclock shuttering bugs when start-up from a boot.
Run CMD and type compcln.exe and then press Y. SP2 would stay permanent and clean up your SP1 remains. -
SLOW BOOT-UP!
FAST START-UP!
Windows takes longer time to logon to DESKTOP.
BUT the icons, services, and so on load a lot faster on the DESKTOP. -

i ruined my IDT sound card driver i just reinstalled windows with SP1 , rolling back drivers didn't help me

I haven't even received SP2 yet. Nothing from MU, can't standalone, because of my chinese installed language. Pretty lame IMO, where is my share M$?
edit: well lil' bit of research says all language coming July 21st. Isn't that almost two months after first wave? man... -
Just (finally) updated a few days ago. Haven't really noticed anything different. Hasn't given me problems either on this machine (Ultimate x64). I'll update the parent's machine later (Ultimate x86) and see how that goes.
-
I installed it on my Dell E4300 a few days ago (specs in sig).
Everything is running great so far. No driver or application conflicts thus far. -
Edit: It finished installing... -
