Anyone downloaded office 2010 yet, I see there is a beta version out does anyone know when the full version will be available for download??
-
Been using it for months. The official bits are out via MSDN. The retail stuff will show up next month.
Google Office 2010 Beta and you can probably still get the beta. -
You can download the full version as a trial now.
I've been running the beta for months, love it. -
Yeah, I agree. New office is very good, unlike the first of the "new version".
Seems MS does good every other time... (W98-OK. 2000-Not OK. XP-OK. Vista-NOT ok. 7-OK etc) -
Very nice.. Been using RTM since it was made available on MSDN... Very nice.

The RTM was available on Technet a few weeks ago. I was using the beta and had a few problems with outlook, now switched to the RTM and my problems are all gone. The 2010 version of Office is a small step forward from 2007, but a welcome one.
-
How long does the MSDN version last?
Edit: I just got my key, weird this is streaming.....its kinda freaking me out because it loads so fast. -
I have it installed on one desktop. There are some improvements over Office '07, but nothing really major. Don't get me wrong, though, many of the changes are quite welcome (less lag when switching between tabs - noticeable on slower systems, much nicer print menu, etc).
-
Sorry what is RTM and MSDN.................any chance posting a link to the download site??
-
I just downloaded it but it did not come with outlook and outlook was the main feature that I wanted to try

RTM stands for "release to manufacturing" and MSDN is a multi hundred dollar investment... -
I've had the beta installed since November. I consider myself a light user of Office - I use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint by far the most, and am probably in the 80% of users who use 20% of features. Office 2010 is nice, and certainly not a step backwards, but as a light user of Office, even after 6 months I'm really not seeing any improvements I miss when using Office 2007. Thus, if you are also a light user of Office (unless perhaps you use one of the programs outside the "main 3" a lot, or are using an ancient version such as Office '97), I would not recommend buying an upgrade to Office 2010.
To put it in perspective, I actually use WordPad (XP edition) a lot more than Word, and was surprised how satisfied I was with Microsoft Works 8.5 after I bought my laptop and before I bought Office 2007 (I did later use the mathematical features of the latter).
RTM = Release to Manufacturing, that is, the final released version of a program, without any patches. I doubt there are any patches yet, so RTM is the latest version.
MSDN = MicroSoft Developer Network. A good number of people here are members of MSDN, MSDN AA (MSDN Academic Alliance), or TechNet (also by Microsoft), where you pay a yearly subscription, and receive access to a large variety of Microsoft software. This includes Office for MSDN and TechNet (but only a small subset of Office for MSDNAA).
Did you download a trial of the Home and Student version? That version doesn't come with Outlook. Take a look at Wikipedia's Office 2010 Edition Comparison for a look at which version contains which software. -
I downloaded this version............... Download Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 ....................the version I got is a paid home and small business version
-
I CANNOT BELIEVE that Microsoft has removed both "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" and "Microsoft Office Document Scanning" from Office 2010. Does anyone know if Microsoft is offering anything comparable to either document imaging or scanning to replace these functions?
-
so you can just download these for free? no limitations?
-
Read the post. It's a trial version. Of course Microsoft doesn't give away Office for free. However, they are now offering a web version of Office, which is supposedly going to be free (supported by ad revenue). This is somewhat similar to Google Docs, I imagine (well, with the difference that it works, in contrast to Google stuff...).
-
There is a warning that if you install 2010 now asa beta version you will not be able to update your paid version of 2007 when it comes out in September
Is that correct as I want to try it now on my new Z -
No need for the beta, but yes. You can't upgrade a Beta to the RTM of 2010.
Download the Trial version, it is available for download now. -
One thing to note for those using it in an office environment, but Microsoft Dynamics CRM does not support the 64bit version of Office 2010.
-
I just downloaded it again and still I don't get outlook 2010..............I downloaded office professional 2010 plus trial and got everything except outlook 2010.
I did a search in my computer and it showed up but when I clicked on outlook 2010, outlook 2007 opened.................... how do I fix that -
Its cool and all but hot damn its ugly compared to 2007.
-
Check out your outlook profile, but something in the installer got borked. The 2010 installer should upgrade Outlook 2007 if you selected it in the installer options. Try a repair install
I thought so too at first. Try changing the color to black. I actually like it a lot.
File | Options | Color Scheme -
Yeayea, i've found black, always used black in 2007 too hehe, but to me its more just a light-dark grey and really boring. Oh well..
-
The social networking functions make up for the ribbon, to some degree.
I'm liking these functions, but they haven't replaced Xobni for me yet.
Xobni > sliced bread -
Agreed. I find it to be a flat matte. Also find OneNote 2010 to be less flexible than OneNote 2007.
No improvements over Office 2007 I could fin that were worth paying for so I'm staying with 2007. -
You could use Windows Fax and Scan to do it probably (If it comes on your machine)
You could also try doing a custom install with your Office 07 disk, only choosing to install MODI and MODS (i abbreviated it..lazy....)
I actually love it's semi transparent look over the overwhelming blue of Office 2007.
-
When will it be avalible for download to the general public
-
Oh why, oh why...it does not let me transfer setting from Office 2007 to Office 2010? Do I really have to build up my AutoCorrect list and set up my toolbars again?

Well, at least the free upgrade version already is. I downloaded and installed it last night. In another thread "deeastman" pointed me to the following link: http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...-software/491951-uninstall-office-2007-a.html -
Can you post the link to the free upgrade

This is it: Microsoft Office 2010 Technology Guarantee - Microsoft Office
The condition is that you will have bought a Office 2007 package within the timeframes that MS specifies and do the upgrade (free) within a timeframe that they specify. Naturally, they retain the right to verify all the information that they deem necessary. In my case, it was simply a case of putting in the Product Information number (not the Product Key) and I was taken to the page to download the installer. Oh...you will also need to sign into or create a MS Live (hotmail) account where they mail you the product key. -
whe I go this this website i get to put my info in and then i get a window saying ....................... Validating Product ID. Please wait ..................... with an hour glass that keeps going for 5 mins then i get the cannot connect to the internet
any ideas???? -

Very strange! Nothing like this happened to me when I upgraded. Maybe their servers are busy with many people trying to download. Perhaps you should give it some time or try at a different time. But I am sure it will work. Maybe check your connections speeds etc. -
I just downloaded Google Chrome and bobs your uncle i went to the download page and i am now downloading office 2010
Guess I wont be using Internet explorer anymore -

Hmm...I had no problem using IE8. Regardless, glad it worked out for you. -
I am using Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta, so far everything has worked out great.

As I mentioned, I did the free upgrade to Office 2010 (Home and Student, which amazingly comes with a 3-user license) and I like it a lot. Currently, I am thinking about Outlook 2010 (optimally, I would have liked a full-flegded email client since I am thinking of going off gmail and into a hosted service), but I don't think I can buy a standalone Outlook 2010 version. I hope the Windows Live Mail (Wave 4) which looks promising works out.
As things stand, I do like Office 2010 a lot (especially, the OneNote integration). -
Oh...thanks for the reminder, I qualify for the free upgrade!!

Yeah...use it! It is really worth it! Gosh, I never thought I'd sound like a MS fanboy, which I am not. It's just that I am done messing around with other Office alternatives (with the enforced exception of Thunderbird!). -
Yeah, I will get it sorted tonight
Fanboy? Noway
XD.(kidding). I understand not wanting to jump from software apps.
I have been enjoying the Beta version of Office Prof. : )

I am sure you will like it! They got rid of the "orb" which I really appreciate! I never did try the Beta version, so I wandered into Office 2010 blind and was pleasantly surprised. Do let us know what you think.
Cheers! -
Love it love Google chrome as well

Yeah Chrome is nice, but I find IE8 much better and am more confortable with it (personal preference, of course). -
