    I really hate how windows is retard....i have my icons in a set order only later to have them thrown all over the screen. I would love to know if there was a way to lock desktop icons locations. I have a 1080p laptop screen and a u2412m 1920x1200 so i make sure there are 2-3 spots of space so when i unplug monitor there is enough space so they don't move due to the difference in vertical pixels on each screen but that still doesn't even help. I honestly don't understand how people make programs that are so shotty.

    or a program that auto fixes them like some sort of macro would be awesome

    i made a couple examples here. I redid it last night and already by this morning they were messed up -_- So i fixed them again and posting this because it drives me nuts because my organization gets messed up and i spend so much damn time fixing them.

    how it looks after not fixing it and letting it morph through several changes

    You can try adding this entry to your registry. I have not used this setting is years, so I make no guarantee is will work for you, nor do I take responsibility if your registry gets all funny afterwards, your notebook stops working, or it comes alive in the middle of the night and tries to strangle you with an Ethernet cable. Sabes?

    Go to the registry folder: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

    and add this entry:

    "NoSaveSettings"=hex(3):00,00,00,00

    *Note: this may not work if you have the "align icons to grid" setting checked.

    I have an 1080p screen but i only have an Intel HD4000 gpu so i have to game at 720p or lower, a lot of times when i exit some games, or i alt-tab from game to desktop it messes up my desktop icon and it`s a pain, i would love some way to lock the icons, i dont want to use auto arrange as i like to group my apps/games.

    It's tough to keep them in order when the screen shifts resolutions so much. Unfortunately I have not found a way to keep explorer from shifting the icons around when the screen resolution changes. I know Stardock Fences can limit the amount of shifting, but that's the closest I've got.
