Is there an application I can run that will accurately measure my laptop's battery life?

Battery Eater or BatteryBar. They can give you instantaneous numbers for power use and the battery capacity for calculations.

Nope, software don't measure the battery life or battery capacity. The software only reads values off the hardware and present those values in a user friendly interface.

Well, depends on what you mean by "better". The "accurateness" of the battery meter are all the same unless there's a problem with the program itself which misinterprets the data. Some battery meter recaculates the remaining battery life faster than others and some use algorithms to caculate the mean battery left time by averaging out multiple readings..etc. I prefer the generic battery meter because it doesn't use extra system resources and it provides enough functionaility for me. All i need to know is the leftover percentage of battery life and the generic battery meter gives me both the remaining time and the % left.
