    HI
Well i have two laptops but one is a netbook and the other a 17" heavy weight and i was looking in to see if there is any software that will stream apps and games easily over the internet. because my netbook is easier to carry but not very powerful i want to now what there is so that i can run high-end apps on the go. i have heard of StreamMyGame but i don't to use it as it does not like my internet and i was wondering if there was a free solution. i have searched Google like crazy.

    Thanks so much

What do you want to do? Stream a whole app over the internet? Apart from the fact that the application needs to be written to support that it needs a lot of bandwidth...

If you need to just access a document etc. you could use remote software like TeamViewer.

But "streaming" say Photoshop to a netbook - that should be impossible - unless you actually just send the "screen output" to your netbook - in which case you are back to TeamViewer etc.

    Or am I missing something?

streaming just the screen but most remote access software don't have a fast enough refresh rate. what i am talking about is something like OTOY but were i can run my own server and not need to buy the applications from them all over again.

Your home internet connection probably doesn't have the upstream bandwidth to support what you're wanting to do, given that StreamMyGame doesn't work for you. The only solution is possibly a remote desktop of some sort, compressed VNC or something.

In short, it can't be done, not with current technology and what you have.

I have used VNC before but it does not refresh enough to do what i need it to do, But i am moving to the DC area so my internet will improve. So is there any software like OTOY?

There's not a whole lot that's more efficient than VNC. If VNC doesn't work for you, nothing will. You're trying to stream high-def, interactive video over the internet. You will need a VERY high bandwidth and low ping Internet connection to get it to work at all, and even then it won't be very high resolution if you want to get even marginal performance. 640x480 or so.

There is nothing that will do what you want. Period.

My netbook is not high-def. StreamMyGame and OTOY all can do it its all in the compression engine that VNC does not have.

    But Thanks anyway

You can try logmein ( https://secure.logmein.com/US/home.aspx). You just install it on your target pc, and log into the logmein website to control it.

However, you are going to get a choppy screen, so forget about playing any games.
