One of the features, which I appreciate and like about the Mac OS on my Apple notebooks is the Applications Dock. Does anyone know of such a feature for Windows XP? If so, what are your experiences and/or comments, if any?

Yup, there is. Its called ObjectDock, free, available at www.wincustomize.com or probably also www.download.com. Fully customizable, jus like the Apple Dock. Even has weather in it. I think its great.

Yes, it did take sometime to locate the right icons and assign them to their programs. However, once that is done, it works really well. It took me awhile to get the right icon for Spybot Search & Destroy. Norton, iTunes, Ad-aware and the Microsoft Word icons were quite simple to locate.

This is an excellent app. LOL . . . My Apple rigs are feeling neglected.

well, its sort of like a bar that has icons on it really, i'm not sure if the one on macs shows the running indicator (like the task bar on windows shows things that are open) i use objectdock on most of my pc's and my mum just likes it coz its shiny and posh looking, plus it 'grows' or magnifies when you hover the mouse over it which it pritty cool, check out this lik from stardock.com for a pic of odject dock:
    http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/index.43.jpg

there are thousands of icons out there to suit every theme you can think of[ :D]

I wouldn't suggest the Aqua-Dock. It comes with spyware, and its just a repacked version of the yz dock. Do a google search and you'll come across lots of people talking about this.

Also not to sound negative, but the yz dock is "supposed" to be illegal now. But I'm still using it.

I don't know about you guys but I tried odjectdeck and it was really confusing and unstable. Well I am not sure about the unstable since I didn't learn to much on how to use it, plus i also used themexp at the same time. So I am not sure if it was the mix of odjectdesk and themexp or one of them that crash my notebook. So is it odjectdesk a stable app? Have anyone here trie something like themesxp that is stable? or have anyone trie both without any problem?

yzdock is not illegal. It is only illegal to distrubute it, but if you have the program there is no law against using it.

if the legality of yzdock is pushing you from trying it. search for rk dock at aquasoft its only in beta stage now but it has progressed very far and in my opinion runs much cleaner than objectdock.

Personally objectdock just uses to much cpu time and to many other resources. Its a very bloated program.

Apple felt threatened by the dock's realistic copying of their dock, so they asked the author to stop distributing it.

Any Aquasoft docks are made by openwares.org. A bundled spyware app called liveupdate (yes, same name as the norton antivirus updater) is installed with it.
