Vista DVD installation is at hand (x64). One thing I am still worry about is my applications I use in XP.
Could you tell me which version of these can run in Vista, please:
    Visual Studio
    MS Office
    Norton Internet Security
    Maple
    Photoshop
    Autocad
    Encarta
    Nero

    Thank you

I suspect they will all come with Vista upgrades.

I think the Vista Upgrade Advisor available on MS' site will scan your PC and give you a heads up on any incompatible software.

When I did my upgrade (to Vista 32), it told me Nero6 wouldn't work, so I uninstalled it before running the upgrade, and haven't tried to re-install yet. I doubt Norton IS would run properly, but everything else on your list should be OK.

    Visual Studio
    MS Office
    Norton Internet Security
    Maple
    Photoshop
    Autocad
    Encarta
    Nero

Visual Studio has some nasty issues under Vista. I don't believe the recently released SP1 works at all, and there are a few other features here and there that don't work with Vista. Not sure about the rest of the programs. I'm a bit sceptical about Norton because software like antivirus or firewalls tends to be very picky about 32 vs 64 bit. (It has to mess with the kernel and drivers, which means it *has* to be 64 bit to work with a 64 bit OS, unlike other apps where 32 bit software can be run just fine.

Apart from that, you are aware that Norton isn't exactly the best software available, right? ;)

    Here you go:

Visual Studio -- has issues; service update due soon
MS Office -- works flawlessly (XP/2003; not sure about others)
Norton Internet Security -- will not work; do not try; will FUBAR your system if you try to force it to install
    Maple -- no idea
Photoshop -- CS2 works; not sure about others
    Autocad -- not sure
Encarta -- latest versions work; not sure about others
Nero -- must update to the most recent version; then works great

Ok, I'm using Office 2007. Will the same installation pack work in Vista x64 or I have to get an x64 version for Office 2007?
The same questions for Photoshop CS2, Encarta, Nero (I've got all the lastest version)

None of those apps requires a different installation disc/download. Just install and run as normal.

Office works, both 2003 and 2007
    photoshop cs works
    nero works
visual studio 2005: install the SP1 will fix most of the problems, but not all, you will still have problems if you try to use IIS that comes with vista, or run the web server integrated in VS.NET
