Example almost every time you uninstall an application it opens your browser to their website asking for a reason why you removed their program.

It`s not just when you uninstall but it`s the vast majority.

Some programs open your default browser, for me it`s Firefox, Some open Internet Explorer.

Is there a way to stop this.

    Thanks

    John.

I don't think you can stop it. Some apps open Edge(UWP apps)/IE too.

So annoying and the answer to your question is no unfortunately. I get browsers open when I install some programs taking me to their site with a thank you note for installing it  or surveys after uninstalling it.

It can be stopped by so called system firewall although most security suites don't employ it. Outpost firewall (no longer developed) was by far the best and could do it. ZoneAlarm firewall also had this feature (I'm not sure if current version still has it).

System firewall not only manages incoming and outgoing connections but it also manages what applications start other applications - reason being that malware can use legitimate app that had been granted internet access to pass and receive data.

Outpost or ZoneAlarm would then display a prompt that said something along the lines of "Install.exe is trying to launch Firefox.exe. Allow? Deny?"

This is a great security feature but it's also extremely annoying to live with - anytime you get a Windows Update the same feature is going to constantly warn you that KB123456 is trying to modify system files and that prompt might appear hundreds of times unless you permanently allow this KB123456 to modify system files.

Similar prompt will also appear anytime you start a game that uses a launcher and in many other cases, so I guess most people would only be annoyed with it.

Sometimes the cure is worse than the condition.

I contacted iobit once as almost every time i uninstalled an app using their software it would open my browser, Iobit replied that they could not do anything about as it was the software being removed that had opened the browser.

It is a pain in the behind and has been for years without a fix.

    Thanks

    John.

You can try to delete the Internet url shortcut that's installed with the app in Program files or Program file x86.
