Interesting story – customer comes to me with a laptop that looks like a piece of burnt toast. His house got struck by lightning, started a fire, burnt up his study. I took out the hard drive and lo and behold, it’s fine. The laptop was an AMD-NVIDIA based HP dv6000 Windows XP Media Center machine. I find a dv6915nr at Office Depot and figure I’ll just put in the hard drive and he’ll be good to go. So much for easy. I’ve been a lot of places, including HP, and nothing so far has worked. The computer runs. There's wifi but no ethernet and the co-processor. ieee 1394 host controller, video controller and a couple of 'unknown devices' have yellow question marks by them in the device manager. It’s the chipset driver and the graphics card that won’t go in.
From PC Wizard:
Manufacturer : HP
Mainboard : Quanta 30CF
Chipset : nVidia nForce 560
Processor : AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-60 @ 2000 MHz
Physical Memory : 3072 MB
Video Card : Nvidia Corp GeForce 7150M
Hard Disk : TOSHIBA (80 GB)
Hard Disk : LEXAR (1 GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L
Network Card : Nvidia Corp MCP67 Ethernet
Network Card : Atheros Communications Inc AR5006 family 802.11abg Wireless NIC
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2
DirectX : Version 9.0c
HP support said that SP33411 should do it. But when I click setup it says that it will install the drivers and then just disappears. Good programming. I’ve been to manufacturer sites but it’s no go – NVIDIA for their nForce 560 chipset and GeForce 7150M and even tried to find the MCP67 Ethernet driver. When I click on Nvidia setup for drivers it says there is no hardware that these drivers apply to. I’m wondering if anyone has successfully installed XP on this or any AMD-Nvidia based machines at this level.
Thanks,
Al
Are there XP drivers that work for HP dv6915nr
