I know that Windows Media Player only allows a limited number of region changes, but is there any legal software that could extend this number to unlimited (maybe Microsoft allows one to buy an extension?). I will be studying abroad, so if this is not possible it will be a major incovenience. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

The region restrictions are actually imposed by the hardware in the drives, and not software. You can't extend it, but just 'bypass' through software which is something we can't talk about here.

There are programs that bypass like DVDIdle, which to the best of my knowledge are Legal (I say they are legal, they may not be, but the website is still operating and still selling the program).
