I've ordered an HP2510p and a friend at the cottage told me that she is having issues with sending files to pple who don't have Vista.
Is there a way to fix this problem?

Wouldn't it just be a matter of saving as another version?

you need to update microsoft office 2003(or below) and/or windows xp(or below) for it to recognise the new .docx format.

i haven't use office 2007 but if you can save it as the old format .doc that should end the compatibility issue.

currently when saving (save as...) using offive 2003 i see the "File name:_" i see a "Save as type:_" choose the save as type as the .doc format... currently my one says Word Document.... but since the new word 2007 has a new file type i'm not to sure which one to choose, just look around and see which one might be the .doc format.

Not a Vista issue. It is Office 2007. The folks with Office 2003 cannnot open the 2007 native format. But they can update their copy of 2003 to include a new module that WILL read 2007 formats. Or the person with 2007 can save the files in the old 2003 format.

I have my Office 2007 programs set up to save everything in Office 2003 format by default, for compatibility reasons. I can't always expect the systems in the computer labs to be fully updated to support the latest formats.
