The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Lost my re installation disk so I need a new one. I know the Vista ones don't work, but are there XP ones?

    Nope! no matter who says it. And I personally would not touch any torrents or P2P services with a 10 foot-pole.

    Easiest way to do it:
    Send an e-mail to Microsoft.

    If you have a legal key they should be able to help you.

    If its an OEM - contact your laptop manufacturer.

    It's an OEM for a pretty old (like, 6 years at least, pre SP1) laptop.

    EDIT: If I were to borrow a retail disk would it work with my key?

    If its pre SP1 - it may, but I fear it may not...
    (never tried)

    Have you contacted MS or your manufacturer?

    Yeah your key should work with it as long as it is the same version.
