I recently wiped Vista off my 5520 because it made it run slow as hell (Shame on Acer for giving the thing one lousy gigabyte of ram for VISTA of all things). Everything works flawlessly and it's WAY faster. Everything, that is, except the sound. I have no unknown devices in device manager save something called a "PCI Device". Sounds like the sound card. Control Panel also says I don't have a sound device installed. I've acquired XP drivers for the card from 3 different sources, and all the drivers were different versions. None of them worked. I think the drivers ARE installed, the problem lies in XP not recognizing the sound card as...er..a sound card. Therefore it won't even TRY to install the drivers for it. Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Do you know who makes/manufacturers your sound card?
For instance, it's best to get the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers on their site as opposed to your laptop manufacturer because they are more up-to-date. -
Well, I could find out, but the laptop isn't even recognizing there is a sound card installed. It worked fine before XP. Truly baffling.
