    HI

I have a Sony PCG-V505EX laptop with a card reader. When I install Windows XP, it wants to assign the drive letter "C" to the card reader instead of the hard drive.

How do I get it to assign letter C to the hard drive

Thanks in advance for any answers or thoughts... :)

Can you disable the reader from the BIOS? If so, you can do it temporarilly until XP finishes to install, then you re-enable it.

It's strange though, I too have a VAIO, have installed XP many times and never ocurred such a thing.

    Hi

Great thought and I tried that. It doesn't show up ion the bios. There has to be a way to do this other than split the case and unplug the card reader as I would do on a desktop.

    Thanks for your suggestion!

    ANSWER> PROBLEM SOLVED

I was using a copy of XP from Dell. When I switched and used an OEM copy, it assigned the proper drive letter. Who would of thunk...ha

    Thanks everyone
