    Hi guys!

    I'm new here :)

    My question:

I have an old Asus g60vx Gamer Edition Laptop (works great) with windows 7, i just did a factory restore (kind of hard, first time using syspref and the manual didn't help).

So, i want to update it but what would happen with all my functions buttons? My asus laptop have many buttons for games and color profile, also quickstart. I will lost it? And if i have to reinstall everything, i must install windows7 and then windows8? I'm kind of worried about the drivers too, there is a special DVD to use together with the restore DVD ("insert second disc for drivers").

    Thank you all!

If you have a driver disk, don't worry about your function keys. Just install windows 8 and then pop the driver disk in.

If you upgrade a Windows 7 machine, you may not be able to load all your drivers from the drivers disc, if the drivers were intended for 7. You might run into driver issues and - consequently - lose some functionality (your hotkeys/function key shortcuts) by upgrading. It depends on whether Asus has updated drivers for 8 or not.

If you decide you're not happy with Windows 8, you still have your recovery. :)
