Hello,
I recently purchased a asus g1s and it comes with bloatware but I am a noob with vista and am not sure which things to leave alone and what to remove. If anyone with a recent g1s has any advice on what to uninstall so I can slim down on the bloat I would be much appreciated. Also if anyone has tips on how to optomize vista that would be awesome also.
Thanks!

Can you please post what software on your system you think is bloat ware?
Generally if when you open up the program and it says its a trial you can pretty much uninstall it. -

Apparently here is a list that has already been made, you can remove the following:

I've struggled with this on my G1S.. And unfortunately uninstalling the bloatware does not help improve the system performance as it should. You'll still be left with a slower Vista.
What I would recommend from my own experience, is to use the Recovery DVD to reformat/install Vista. But when it asks you for the Driver CD, shut the system off. And it will setup/install a clean Vista with none of the bloatware.
Now after you do this there won't be any drivers installed, or programs. What I suggest is to only install the drivers (for everything), and keep the ATK programs (they handle all the commands/controls for the brightness/volume/programs/power profiles/etc), as well as Power4Gear, Direct Console, Wireless Console, Touchpad/mouse software.
All the drivers/programs are separate on the driver CD. There's a .txt file in the root directory called Filelist, which will tell you what each directory contains. You can't use the setup.exe program to pick and choose drivers/programs until you have certain drivers installed.. So you'll have to do it by exploring the directories and starting each one's "Setup.exe".
Hope this helps. Trust me, you'll see a massive speed difference. -
Also if you have a Vista Anytime Upgrade disc that will do a fresh install but a lot of recent notebooks don't ship with them anymore (like mine)
