Please help
when replying to job advertisements on Gumtree when i try to attach my CV to there message system i get a no file chosen error message and my reply fails to go to the advertiser i have tried all the accepted formats docx, doc, rtf, pdf and none of these work .i have also tried every browser and still the same problem persists. i have contacted Gumtree and they say the problem is at my end. this baffles me as i can attach the same files to other web sites without any problems.i have tried all i know to try and rectify the fault over the last 2 weeks but it has me beat any assistance would be gratefully received , i am using an acer 5535 laptop with windows 7

Could be a network configuration - possibly set forth by your router/modem. Are you using a wired connection or a wireless connection (if you're wireless, have you tried an ethernet internet connection)?

Thank you for your reply PROSTAR I have tried everything i have even tried using a friends laptop to reply to the same ads.and the same problem occurs with that machine also . i was wondering if there could be something wrong with the file itself, that may be preventing it from attaching i could send you a screen shot of the fault if that would be of any help ??

Hi BRY492,
When you tried this with your friend's laptop, was it on your network still? Or a different network? Honestly, if the file can be opened and the contents appear intact, the document itself should be fine. To validate that though, you could try uploading any random .docx or PDF - or even the older .doc format.
I'm a bit of a network dilettante, but I can advise that you try clearing your DNS resolver cache (either using a program like Ccleaner or using the ipconfig/flushdns command line in a command prompt), as well as clearing your browser's cookies and cache (although I doubt this will resolve the matter).
You can also use the ipconfig/renew command in a prompt as well.
