I use Audacity to edit my MP3s, but recently it keeps crashing whenever I export as MP3. The files still export properly but it just crashes. Anyone got any ideas why? I have the newest Audacity (beta) + LAME encoder but it never crashed before.

Try newest stable Audacity. Update your LAME .dll.
    My suggestions.

i know vista has some secret issues with audacity. I have had audacity crash while using vista, but with xp, on the same computer audacity would run fine.

    Try Fred's suggestion though ;)

I use Audacity too and so far mine hasn't crashed. Are you able to export to WAV or Ogg Vorbis? Is it only exporting to mp3 that makes it crash?

Try getting version 1.2.6 because that's the one I've been using. Like de suggested, you should downgrade to the most recent stable version. Beta versions often have bugs and are not that stable yet. My assumption is that the beta version has some bugs regarding exporting to mp3 and probably compatibility with some LAME types.

Another suggestion is to lower your sampling rate and bitrate for exporting mp3 files. Another thing I noticed is that if you add to many VST effects, it can tend to slow down the processing of the final mix.

    Yes, only MP3 crash, I'll try 1.2.6.
