OK... I'm trying to help a friend to get his laptop to be able to play Doom 3... well get it able to play it again... He has completed the game up to The Delta Labs 3 (or 4 I can't really remember, the point is that he has been playing it well for a while)...

whenever he loads up ANY level the audio seems to loop and repeat 3-4 times (I.e. shoot rifle once. hear rifle fire 4-5 times.).... I tried All different levels of Decreasing Hardware Acceleration... I re-installed the Audio Drivers... I turned off his Anti-virus... I Optimized his startup programs... Still no change...

He says that this happens sometimes when he is running iTunes as well

Anyone have any experience with something like this?

That's interesting, especially the fact that it happens in iTunes. It's probably a driver problem. Did you try either reinstalling the current drivers or downloading and installing the latest ones?

Also, the hard drive could be fragmented so bad that the computer can't find the files for the sound. If you want to defrag:
    1.Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.

Select your Windows drive and click "Defragment". Depending on how bad the hard drive is fragmented, it could take a while, maybe 2 hours. Also depends on the size of the drive.

Let me know if any of that helps!

Yeah, I've uninstalled the old drivers and reinstalled the latest ones from Dell... no fix...
I started to defragment the HDD but it wasn't that fragmented... I should get him to do it anyways...

    Thanks
