Somebody care to advice where i can get Dell Latitude D640 Audio driver that is compatible with XP Pro SP3 ?

The one i downloaded from Dell website isn;t working. I suspect that it is not compatible with XP Pro SP3.

    Thanks - Mave

My guess is that you would need a patch for High Definition Audio from MS before the driver can be installed and recognized.

I see that there are 2 links at the bottom of the page. Pick either one of them, download and install it.

Make sure that you create a restore point first (I always do), just in case.

    cheers ...

I just downloaded and checked the file - it is fine (no INF by the way).

Have you followed the instruction as stated from the link?

"...extract it and then right-click at the ? mark at the device manager that you think might be the Audio device, reinstall the driver by pointing to the folder you extracted the files to.

After that's done, install the audio driver for your motherboard."

    cheers ...
