This is kind of weird but okay.

    Windows Vista business 32-bit

I restarted my computer earlier today and it says my copy of windows is not genuine. Ive been running the this same copy for over a year. I enter in my product key and it gives me an error code 0x800700D. When i boot in safe mode it doesnt give me a problem.

I swapped to my old hard drive that i cloned over when i got a bigger one and it boots up just fine. Any ideas on how to repair this without having to lose everything? I dont want to have to reinstall all my programs and such.

Have you installed any applications recently, or made any other changes? If so, that could be the cause. I've also read that Daemon tools can cause this error, and uninstalling it can fix it.

There was one member with a similar issue - suddenly his insallation required activation.

Then it fails on the automatic check.

Call Microsoft - if you have a legal copy with a sticker on your laptop they will be able to help.

Did you install the latest service pack recently?

    If so, go here
    http://support.microsoft.com/ph/11732#tab0

choose FREE SUPPORT FOR VISA SERVICE PACK ISSUES

In addition to adding new hardware and some pirated software related issues (not saying you are pirated, what I mean is that Micosoft has flagged legitimate keys and new versions of WGA identifies legitimate keys wrongly), I've also seen this occur with a very obscure malware infection and a corrupt registry key.

First thing I would do is run system restore to a point sometime last week, which will restore the registry and might revert the malware issue. If that solves the issue, I would reapply any updates 1 (ONE) at a time, rebooting after each and see if it returns.

Then, if that fails, I would try the above link or contact Microsoft with the method given with your activation warning
