Are there any auto correct extensions to use on PC like with iPhone? iphones automatically capitalize the first letter of a sentence and will correct typos. Obviously a pc is much stronger than an iphone, so why is it so hard to find something so basic?

The autocorrect features are built into the programs themselves. Not the Operating System. Try word for instance. You can customize the autocorrect feature within word.

I can just imagine how much of a mess of things auto correct at the OS level would make. Command line, coding, entering file paths manually, etc. Can you imagine if those would go through auto correct. Heck, scientific language gets murdered by the auto correct often enough. To me, auto correct has been something I either had to fight or disable most of the time.

Most browsers also have an auto correct extension or feature. Firefox has an extension for that, so do Chrome as far as I know.

God forbid you learn to type accurately. You realize autocorrect on phones exists because of poor, cramped keyboards and thumb-typing (my thumbs are ~5x the size of each letter on the keyboard, on the large iPhone), right?

In my opinion, autocorrect for real computers would destroy the average persons ability to spell/write/punctuate (and this ability is already at a dismally low level on average). It's already infuriating trying to decipher someone's "text speak" (wen ur tryin 2 read quickly, dis makes it rly hard).

I have my bachelor's in communications. I know how to spell and punctuate. It's just annoying when I am speed typing in Youtube comments or Facebook wall posts/comments. I don't need the spelling corrections. I would just like the feature of the first word of a sentence to be capitalized while I speed peck away at the keyboard.

I just think it's a slippery slope. And auto-correct implies (at least to me) more than just capitalizing the first letter of a sentence. I hate texting people and realizing one of my words just got 'corrected' to "ducking".

I searched every extension for firefox and chrome and couldn't find anything that capitalizes and acts like autocorrect. =(
