Hi,
I have a Dell Latitude Notebook.
I use a combination of wired and wireless connection at home. So if i accessing large files on my Home network (NAS), I tend to plug My notebook to A Wire LAN outlet.
Its a bit of a pain having to keep flipping the manual Wireless disconnect switch on the notebook and could end up in premature failure of the switch.
Is there anything built in to Windows 7 that I can configure to disable wireless when Lan connection is detected (...and re-enable on disconnect)?
If there is none, please can you recommend a light weigth application that could do this?
cheers

There is software like this. Example is: Wireless AutoSwitch Home
But I do not know of any freeware.
Edit: This one could work: http://www.wlanbook.com/bridgechecker-v1.2-available-for-download/
never tried it myself. -
thanks very much

You should be able to set the metric for the different interfaces, and make sure the metric for the wired interface is lower than that of the wireless interface. It looks like they may have changed the auto-calculation of metrics in Windows 7... I'm guessing you have an 802.11n wifi network?
