    Hi
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with Vista Home Premium. I was wondering if there's a way to get the computer to power on automatically at a fixed time everyday. I dont want to have it hibernate, I shut it down completely and would like to have it power on automatically.
    Thanks
    Ishan

I know it's possible if you put it to sleep, just dunno how. As for powering off? Don't think so ...

You can only do this through hibernation or if you had a remote computer send a Wake On Lan signal to your laptop.

only thing i can think of is to move the power switch/button "outside" the box - or disable it. Then use a timer to turn the "external" switch on at certain time as you suggested.

    cheers ...

If I remember correctly there is a setting in the BIOS to do just that...

I don't feel like rebooting to check at the moment, but it should be there.

If it's anything like the desktop BIOS, the setting will be there; however, wake on LAN requires a wired ethernet connection, as it won't work over wireless (at least, as far as I know).
