Anyone know how to rememdy this? When I insert a flash card such as an SD card or a Memory stick from a digital camera or from my cell phone, I never get the auto play dialogue like I used to. Anyone? Thanks.

EDIT: I've already gone to the Control Panel and restored the defaults for auto play in there. Not sure what else to do. Also seems to not work with my flash drives as well. Could it be a service was disabled? My shellhwdetection service is running.

Check the value of your NoDriveTypeAutoRun key(s) in the registry. See here for more details. Note that you could potentially have this key set in two different locations either in HKLM, or in HKCU, at Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. If both are present, the key in the system location (HKLM) overrides the other. Default setting of the key is 0x91.

Well, what happens when you insert cards, then?

Ah... too late. Couldn't stand it anymore and just went for a quick reinstall of Windows. Thanks though, if it happens again, I'll be sure to check that. As for symptoms, Autorun dialogue doesn't show, but the computer still shows anything plugged in in Computer, just no pop up dialogue.
