I have a few questions about availability and support of Windows XP.
I have had an "upgrade" version of Windows XP Home that I have had since release day many years back. It has served me well over a few PC upgrades on a PC that I used for basic desktop work and occasional gaming. I just installed it on what I consider my last run for this specific copy of this OS.
I have an OEM copy of XP Pro SP2 on my desktop gaming rig (see sig) that I bought at Newegg and an OEM copy of XP Pro SP2 on my Vostro 1500.
What will happen after January 2008? Isn't Jan 2008 when XP Home is no longer supported? But will I be able to download updates if I ever do a reinstall? I am assuming I would. But what else should I expect?
Also, if I want another copy of Windows XP Pro OEM, upgrade, or original, will I still be able to order it? If OEM is going bye-bye then I will probably buy one copy now for future use. but if it will still be available then I won't bother.
Thanks for any clarification about this.

It has been espanded to july.
I don't know how MS will go with this.
I just hope they get smart & support it longer. -
Mainstream support ends as of 4/14/2009, unless Microsoft extends it further. Until that time, updates we still be available for the os via Windows Update.

Cool, seems XP Home is the same date:

But will I still be able to order OEM version? I thought MS wasn't going to offer OEM versions after January 2008? -
