    What is:

    HDD password
    User password?

I know supervisor password is the thing you type before you get into the BIOS. Just wondering what the other 2 do.

I'm not 100% sure, but how this it used to be, a long time ago..

Bios password - access the bios and make changes

HDD password - this password protects access to the local HD controller (but you could still boot from a CD, etc..)

User password - you need this in order to boot the computer up, every time.

I know the HDD password as what you described.
I assume that is still valid as there is little sense in changing their functions.

I only suggest a HDD password if you must protect data on the HDD as it can easily become annoying to type it in every time you start your laptop.
