Hi all, i was just having a look at my bios and under the "advanced" tab where it says which OS is running, mine says winxp even though im running vista 64bit. When i try to change it to vista, the system crashes while its booting up so i have to put it back to xp. Ive only had the laptop a couple of days (Sager NP8660) and vista is the only OS ive installed on it.

It seems to run fine and everything, but i was just wondering if its something i need to worry about and correct, or just leave it as it is?

    Any help would be great.

As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Just leave it alone if it works as it should. You wouldn't want to break something that works properly, would you?

I don't remember any BIOS listing OS's.... do you mean when you are booting up AFTER the Bios?

Well yeah - after i saved the changes and the system restarts, it doesnt make it to the vista screen it just crashes. Im guessing i should just leave it as it is - was just curious i suppose lol

and to "citizen86" i mean when i press F2 during startup to enter the BIOS there is a section under "advanced" which says "installed OS" and you can select xp/vista or other.

That appears to be something new in the Clevo BIOS (at least).

If you ever re-install though, it would be interesting to see if it updates. Probably if you update the BIOS, it would detect the correct OS? Hmm... interesting. But, as was said, if it's working fine, don't worry.
