I've searched and searched and all I can come up with is how to update bios through a flash drive or diskette medium. All i have is a cdrw drive and cant seem to find how to update bios through cdrw. Really all i need to know is how to create a cdr i can boot from existing bios to update. Is this possible? how? Thanks in advance for any help its much appreciated.

If you have Nero 6 and above, you can make a bootable CD with Floppy Disk Emulation, plus your files. :)

Depending on your manufacturer, it may be possible to update your BIOS without the use of any external device. For example, Lenovo makes it possible to update the BIOS from the hard drive itself.

Sounds cool. Do i just put the downloaded file on that emulated disk or do i need to change the file or format at all?

My notebook is near ancient... 04 satellite m35x-s149 1.5celeron 256+1gb in the mail/80gb/integrated intel bulls#*^ and my bios version is 1.20. i found the 1.90 version Here but the .exe file runs and wants to 'create a floppy to boot' from...
since my laptop is old im not sure if it supports updating the bios from the hard drive, and I havnt found anything on that yet. Do you know where to find that information?

Thanks for all the help everyone.

LoL - I just downloaded your bios file -> it includes an bootable CD Image that's ready for burning and flashing your bios :)

All you have to do is extract/decompress the file either by just double clicking on it or using Winzip, Winrar, etc. - then you'll see 'sm35xiv19.iso'.

Just use Nero or any other CD Burning program to burn the file and voila! :p

So do I include a bios flashing util on the disk? Or is the .iso enough?

ROFL! First, bend over; second, turn around :p

K, just open up Nero, then look under the menus for the option called 'Burn Image' and that's it :)

Oh, and don't forget to set your laptop to boot from the CD drive eh ;)

    Ok! I'm ready :p

1 last question. Ive burnt the image to disk like you said. How do I 'set my laptop to boot from disk'? dont I just press f2 to go into [old] bios and boot from disk there? or do I select that through windows? last question i swear! :D
