    greetings,

    this is driving me crazy.

i have been able to successfully play BRD on my XBR6 though HDMI with no problem. both audio and picture are great.

however, tried a WALL-E BRD and am having problems.

picture and audio are fine until i click play movie then the Disney logo plays, still OK, then the movie starts and the audio stops but the video continues to play.

everything is fine up until the movie starts.

    other BRD disks are fine.

i did the WINDVD upgrade @ sony.

audio fine on computer speakers when not connected to HDMI.

is there something special about the audio in this movie?
if so, how will i know which ones will play and which ones won't in the future?

there is only one audio track on the disc: 6.1 DTS HD-Master Audio. the AW lacks the hardware to send compressed lossless audio across HDMI. as such, you'll need to use WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-ray that decodes the audio track into LPCM. send the audio as LPCM across HDMI to your receiver.

    thank you for the reply.

    now for the stupid question:

why do other BRD work w/audio accross HDMI and this one does not?

also, just a mention, i am running the HDMI directly in to the TV.

    thanks again,
    bruce

the AW cannot bitstream HD audio. the only audio track on the Wall-E Blu-ray disc is 6.1 DTS HD-Master Audio.

you will only get stereo (two channel audio); that is the best you'll get.
