I dont really care anymore and I dont want to use vista anymore. But as a computer enthusiast, how is it that my computer keep BSOD even after re-installing vista? Is the corrupt kernel embedded itself in the ram, the harddrive, mobo or CPU? Is it just that my hardware is not compatible with vista?

It could be drivers.

Check your RAM with memtest.

I was having a problem with Vista, 3 times after about 4 months since the last reformat it started BSODing every time I tried to shut down or restart the computer. It happened randomly and never right after installing something or updating a driver. After running memory tests, hard drive tests, all sorts of scans for viruses and spyware, and other possible problems nothing popped up so I was forced to reformat. It just happened the 3rd time a few days ago and I said bye bye to Vista and went back to XP which ran fine for 6 months on the same computer before switching to Vista. Really stinks though cause I'd rather run Vista, there's lots of little things it has that XP doesn't that are really convenient. Hopefully I'll come across some programs that can add some of these features. I just figured for some unexplainable reason this specific computer doesn't like Vista, same thing happened to my old laptop and 2000.

guess that i really really missed out on the fun of having vista bsod'ed on me. Except once at the very beginning, due to ati gpu driver.
i 2nd RAMBO29 about drivers. And a bit more detailed about the bsod, as suggested by Scuderia, would help us all in learning

Some notebook manufacturers have needed to tweak their BIOSes to ensure Vista compatibility, so a BIOS issue might be the cause of the problem.
If you want to have time to read the error number for the BSOD then disable the automatic restart under My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery.

Did u also try Flashing your BIOS?
Here are top reasons for BSOD:
1. RAM issue
2. Motherboard messed up.
3. Too much heat build up.
4. BIOS incompatibility (flash the BIOS).
Dont just give up on vista..
I am known as no.1 Vista ranter on NBR...but i am still using it ..coz it has many good features also. -
I think Vista is a No Go for some users like myself. I tried to use Vista 3 times and always got BSODs. Ran ever possible diagnostic tools and no erros. Returned to XP (now with SP3) and not a single BSOD.

Vista is like a Supercar... too demanding , hardly used...not for average use..but when used properly with rite ingredients (hardware) then it is a pleasure.

I kept getting BSOD on bootup after reinstalling Vista 64-bit. So I reinstalled Vista 64-bit and figured it was due to Acronis TrueImage 10.0 and never bothered reinstalling it due to that scare. Are there certain programs you are installing after the clean installation?
-
I truly doubt Acronis TrueImage could be the cause of your problem. Never had a single problem with this app.

A quick google seems to find a lot of Vista BSOD issues in connection with AMD CPUs, so it might be worth exploring that option; also, the point another poster made regarding the BIOS issue is probably a good one, particularly if your system came out pre-Vista - it's quite likely that a lot of pre-Vista systems that are technically "Vista capable" are, in fact, not capable due to problems in the OEMs' implementation of things like various BIOS options, and even ACPI - which Compaq is notorious for having kludged up on its systems (which is, to me, the heighth of irony given that Compaq was one of the big players in drafting the standard in the first place).

You definitely have some applications conflicts, unistall one at the time and let the laptop to become stable, do this until you find which application is causing this BSOD's.

Looks shiny, but on the inside, it's the same old sh^t.
BSOD's? Driver problems? Software incompatibilities? Yep, same old story, flashy new name.... -
I have heard some Vid card drivers may cause this as well...
BSOD keeps coming back
