Hey all,
My computer wanted to force me to restart after installing some Windows updates on June 11th or 12th. I delayed the restart and when I came back to my laptop next, it was launching startup repair. I waited to see what happened and startup repair said it could not fix my laptop. The computer shut off and I tried starting windows normally & in safe mode, only to get a BSOD about when the windows logo comes together. I tried to learn how to uninstall the windows updates from June found here Microsoft security updates for June 2013 and got the following error on my first attempt "Installer encountered an error:0x800ffff Catastrophic failure". I believe this is the same error I got when I tried to use system restore. I looked up that error and found that the error message is related to the hard drive. I tried running a few chkdsk and got no errors, but was still unable to use Software Updates - uninstalling from commandline - XP vs Win7 in the command prompt of system recovery options.
Any ideas on this, been stuck on it for awhile.
Also used a windows 7 CD to use sfc /scannow, which did not find any issues.
