Hello everyone,
A little earlier, when I closed the lid on my laptop, it didn't go into sleep like it should, but it Shut Down instead. So I turned it back on, and it came up with the usual message "Windows blah blah blah".
Anyway, does anybody have some idea as to what might have happened? I haven't modified or installed anything new on it lately, and there have been absolutely no hardware changes at all.
I have also uploaded the Minidump, to see if anyone here can decipher it for me.
Thanks.
BTW, I also wanted to say that Windows 7 at this point is an absolute POS, and that given a chance to go back in time, I would never have put it on there.

According to the dump file,
The ACPI Driver detected an internal inconsistency.
The inconsistency is so severe that continuing to run would cause serious problems. The ACPI driver calls this when the state is so inconsistent that proceeding would actually be dangerous. The problem may or may not be a BIOS issue, but there is no way to tell.
I would look for a BIOS update first. Seems like this laptop may not be Windows 7 compatible. Have we had this conversation before. I am getting a strange sense of Deja Vu that I've seen this problem with the a300 before. -
Yeah, it seems plausible. That would explain why I have had a couple on boot as well, with some data in the screen referring to the ACPI.
I'll go and have a look for a BIOS update on the Toshiba site. I don't really want to do it, but it may be my only solution. Thanks Gerryf19.
EDIT: Ugh, looks like they don't have any updates for my model at all. Looks like I might just have to put up with it for a while.Maybe I'll dig out that XP Pro disc I have...

next thing to look at would be a (potential) chipset driver update, then storage, video, and networking.
All of the system drivers need to cooperate for a sleep/hibernate. -

then make a list of your hardware and start to look at the component makers web sites for driver updates.
