I have been using skype for a few months, but ever since I added the bluetooth card to my Dell 1420 and started using a bluetooth headset, I have been getting frequent BSoDs. It happens almost every time I use skype, usually about 20 minutes into a call. It has not happened at any other time. I will attach a picture of the BSoD, as well as the text from the error report or whatever it is that Vista presents on the next startup. Another thing I noticed that might be related is that occasionally to get the headset to work in Skype, I have to tell it to use the optical/spdif output rather than the headset itself, while other times setting it to the headset works and the spdif doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The three reports, from the three times that it happened today:

Otherwise you can hack the bluetooth stack. Dell really sucks with their support on the bluetooth 2.0+EDR module. I am really disappointed -- I had to manually hack my drivers to get them to work the problem was btwavdt.sys that had an updated version just not for DELL.

The Lenovo installs like a dream if you have the same 2.0+EDR module,

Yeah I installed the Lenovo one, and had a 40 minute Skype conversation today with no BSoD. I am disappointed though that Dell just ships a faulty product. What would they tell me if I called support? "Sorry it doesn't work?" I doubt they would recommend me to use their competitors product.

Hello, I've got the same problem. What exactly do I have to install from Lenovo? I am pointed to a site where I could buy stuff, but I need only a driver, but I can't find the right one :( Please help me quickly :)

micah356, you need to install SP1. I was getting a lot of blue screens too before SP1.

First, check if any of the issues/drivers here apply to you: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343#method5

If so, update or uninstall the affected driver (if it's a driver issue).
If not, then go ahead and use the Standalone updater: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Also, I have Dell bluetooth and I don't have any problems with it. And I didn't need to hack any drivers. I'm only using it for a bluetooth mouse though. Go to dell.com, support section, drivers & downloads, and make sure you're using the latest driver for Bluetooth with Vista on your computer model. The driver updater may want to update the firmware too... if so, then let it do that too.

If problems continue, you can also look at these instructions on debugging BSODs: http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...89&postcount=4
