A notebook running Windows 7 32bit had a malfunctioning battery control chip which left the battery dry. I was not aware of this problem and cut the power supply during operation. The OS tried to suspend (to RAM or disk, I'm not sure), but after about 2 seconds the system was force shut down so suspending didn't finish. Now the Windows would BSoD during boot.
Startup repair didn't help. Neither did system restore.
As far as I can tell there's no damage done to the hardware nor BIOS settings. Other OSes installed on the machine work just fine.
The time stamp of the dump file is off by a few months, but the system clock is not malfunctioning and time shown in other systems are correct.
This is the crash dump analysis report from WhoCrashed:
What should I do now?

StormJumper Notebook Virtuoso
So what kinda computer do you have and when you mean?
-
It's a IBM ThinkPad T60, with only one internal battery.
The machine was connected to AC, but the battery stayed low and won't charge. This is not my notebook and I have no idea what's the cause of the problem, it simply doesn't charge.
When I unplugged it the system immediately entered "battery critically low" state, and went dead a few seconds later. -
can you get to "load previous known good driver config", F8 on boot I think.................
Edit; If you already tried repair and restore this may be too late though............. -
battery had died of old age or just lost its charge over the years.
if you can get it to boot the check out battery care or battery bar in my signature below which will show how much % of life it has left.
try booting with the battery removed.
it might even need a cmos reset.
remove mains and battery and then press and hold on/off poer button for 20 seconds.
then find cmos battery. remove for 20 seconds and replace.
then try booting with mains only without battery connected and then after that try with battery only.
im guessing the battery is on its last legs though. -
Thank you for the replies.
Driver config reset is too late.
Already done CMOS reset, no difference. The fact that other OSes work also indicates that CMOS is not the problem.
The battery itself is fine. It charges well on another ThinkPad. I also swapped battery from that machine to this one which made no difference. This is why I believe the battery control chip is to blame. -
You switched out batteries and it will still not charge that battery or run on it?
-
It runs on both batteries as long as its charged, but I can't read anything via tp_smapiā.
The other ThinkPad can charge both batteries and read battery information. -
What video card, it seems your error relates primarily to ATI cards?
