I'm not sure there is a way to do that...

I think you just flash the old one, and reconfigure your settings (if any).

I know there used to be ways to do that. Back when there were actually floppy disks it was really easy to. The flash utilities would usually create a backup automatically onto the floppy. If you google "backup bios" a bunch of stuff will come up but it is mostly antiquated stuff.

Most every BIOS flash is done from within Windows now... There seems to be a really low chance of BIOS corruption now, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Is BIOS corruption what you are worried about?

I wonder if the dos versions of WinFlash still exist and would work?

just download the old BIOS VERSION (current installed version) and the new BIOS version... then you have the same thing as you would have by backing up the BIOS (like in the old dos flash days) as far as backing up the actual setting goes,,, not sure if that is a possibility,, just write down any options that concern you..

    later,

Do the BIOS flashers allow you to downgrade a BIOS? I thought most don't allow you to flash an older release...

The trouble is that if the flash fails you might not be able to easily re-flash another one. A failed BIOS update can cause such corruption that you need some techi tools fix it. Especially now that BIOS updates are fully updated through Windows.

I have rarely heard of a bad BIOS flash in recent years. Rarely, but not never. Now that the flashing doesn't depend on an unreliable floppy, the BIOS flash is a lot safer. If you read all the documentation with the BIOS update you should be all set.

However, if it makes you feel more comfortable, downloading the older BIOS update as well as the newer one might be your best best... Even though it will be fairly useless...

My BIOS flash went well, but I think you can flash an older one if need be.

my laptop BIOS flasher has no problem downgrading.. just did it 2 weeks ago
as long as the hardware matches the bios file it will downgrade on my acer,, but i'm positive some flashers will do all they can to prevent you from downgrading,, but most DOS based flashers have an override /switch,,, and also have /backup:drive\path\oldbios.bin type option

it all comes down to reseaching your BIOS flashing program and learning about the options and switchs used especially by the DOS flash programs..

but the windows based flash programs usually just have 2 buttons
