    Own a Toshiba Satellite M45 S331 notebook. Was unable to upload Windows XP and system would only power up to where I had the option to boot up to safe mode, last good configuration, dos prompt, etc., but when I would select any one of these, it would simply lock up and not go any further. I decided to relinquish my data and, after accessing the bios to change the boot sequence to CD first, I loaded the Recovery CD that was included when I originally purchased my notebook. It seemed that I had a successful Windows XP o/s recovery at first, but the following day while online, my notebook suddenly had a blue screen with the following message:

    "STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
    The windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedley with a status of 0x0000006 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.
    Beginning dump of physical memory
    Physical memory dump complete.
    Contact your system administrator or technical
    support group for further assistance."

    Is this what I have heard before as the "blue screen of death"? Does it mean I have some bad memory? Bad recovery cd or corrupt software o/s? If bad OS, if I purchased a new Windows XP software pack and installed it (a complete fdisk of the hd), would this resolve my problem? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks!

    If you have been using the lappy for a while and you don't usually get blue screens, you probably don't have errors in you memory. You should download MemTest86, burn it and run it, to see if its your memory.
