I just recently formatted my Acer 5050 to Windows XP and was wondering if there are any programs out there that allows me to configure the power settings; for example there was a low battery setting which allowed me to have the computer run at a low setting and turned the display lower to allow longer battery power.

Notebook Hardware Control and it is free. But I think a lot of these options are already in Windows. I like NHC it is easy to use.
