First time I noticed this problem was after 2 weeks from buying my laptop (specs in sig), I checked my battery, adaptor and cables everything was fine, checked up some solutions online like removing the battery and plugging AC on then shutdown the laptop then put the battery back on, this solution fixed the problem but only temporary and then the problem happen again and it is really annoying every time you need to charge your battery to go somewhere it don't. So I tried another solution like updating my BIOS to "System BIOS Version F.41A" and violaa the problem of the battery didn't happen again, I had at that time Win7 HP's OEM Home premium 64x . After six months of buying my laptop I purchased Win7 Professional 64x and formatted my C: drive and installed the new windows and unfortunately the problem happened again Battery Plugged in, not charging. I checked on msinfo32 my BIOS version and it was still Version F.41A. I went again to HP's costumer care website to download the new BIOS version but I only found this version F.15 and when I try to install it the installer tells me "This BIOS is not for you Notebook". It was the same link I saved where I got the F.41A.
I'm really desperate here guys, If anyone please can find me my new BIOS version for HP Pavilion dv6-1390ev
Here is HP's Costumer Care Website site with the Faulty BIOS software: Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv6-1390ev Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
By the way I found on the internet a massive number of people having this problem with their brand new laptops with many brands too, also with Windows 7 & Vista

Did you test with an alternate battery? You should try and ascertain whether the problem is with the battery or the machine.
Since you bought the machine in January, your battery should still be under warranty. Try calling HP and ask them to send you a replacement battery because your having issues with your battery. Once you get the new battery, see if the new battery actually changes and your system is able to continuously detect it. If not, it might be a problem with the laptop and you may have to send it in.
Based on what you've done so far, I don't think it is an OS issue.
