My friend's Thinkpad has a battery program that allow her to set when (%) she wants to have her battery charged etc, so even when her battery is slot-in, it wouldn't be charging. I thought that letting the battery go to 20%> then recharging it to full would be better than just having it stay at 100% all the time (I seldom use the battery, but then, I don't want to risk a power failure, so I'm keeping in on)

Wondering if there's one I could download for use on my non-Lenovo/IBM laptop?

Vista Battery Saver doesn't install, always get stuck at 95%

Let the battery decide when it needs to charge. It already has the built in circuitry to produce the best battery life. If you are going to store it that's when you should take some caution and store it at around 40% charge.
