    Hi folks,

I have searched the forum here and other places but I haven't really found the answer to my Q ...

FYI, I am using Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit.

In Vista already there is a "Windows Mobility Center" that it gives you all the data. Also, you have the Alert Settings under "Power Options".

What I would like to have is a BEEP ALERT when my battery hits a certain level? you know an Audio & Flashing type Alert!

Q: Does anyone know of a "Add-On" or a Freeware program that does this!?!?

    Thanks,

    G! :)

Can't Vista do that alert by itself?
It definitely gives you a visual alert.

    Hi Detlev,

Yes it does visual ... but if I am working on my desktop and have lappy running next to me I can easily miss it.

And after reading a ton of articles about "over-charging" batteries and how bad it is ... I usually unplug after it hits 100% and want to be alereted when hits 20% so I can intervene before it shuts down.

    Hi folks,

    @ Detlev .. THANKS!

Just a Heads Up for anyone else who is looking into this Solution ... at another Forum form a Regular who I trust ... I heard that "Battery Alarm" program we are talking about is a "BAD NEWS" ... and he suggested to me to Stay Away from it. So I will.

However, I will try the Already Built in Alarm withing Vista ... BUT add a "Louder" sound. This technique is shown on the Thread you guys pointed me to "Under VISTA" solution!

    Thanks again guys!

    G! :)

In Windows, you can go to the Sounds applet in the Control Panel and change the system default sounds for "Critical Battery Alarm" and "Low Battery Alarm." You should set up your own, louder sound. The defaults are both short and quiet.

If you're interested in a software solution, a shareware program called BatteryBar provides popup notifications and sound alerts when your battery reaches a certain level.

    Hi NiteShdw,

I actually went on internet and found me some "Loud" alarms and I treid associating them as you suggested in your Method 1 above ... but when my Test Tolerance of 30% is hit all I get from the darn Vista is Visual Pop-Up and NO SOUND!

Q: Do you know how to FORCE the Sound on!?!?

BTW, I went to the BatteryBar site ... I don't think it has the Audio Alarm that I am looking for ... and also I have had BAD experience with Programs that SHELL themselves into the Explorer without having the Option to undo them. So, not interested in BatteryBar for now.

    Thanks,

    G! :)

I think I read somewhere else that other people were complaining that Vista doesn't play the battery alarm sounds. Seems to be a common issue. I gather that you'll probably need some kind of third party application to get what you want. Heck, you could easily whip something up in C# in an hour to do that.

RE: BatteryBar, it does play sound notifications, but you need the Pro version for that. I don't know what you mean about "option to undo", but you can uninstall it, which I would think would be considered an undo.
