After doing a clean install of vista home premium 64 bit on my hp dv6-1253ca, I installed all of the necessary drivers and updates. Now I notice that the batter(power), volume, and network(the antenna icon that will show signal strength) icons are gone. How do I get these back?
Also I forgot to add that in windows explorer or other windows, the "Tools" menu is missing and I cannot access "folder options" as well.

Right click on your desktop --> personalize --> on the left towards the bottom --> Task Bar and Start Menu --> Notification Area Tab - check the boxes of the ones you want back (sounds like you want them all).
-
. Also, I used to have the actual antenna icon but it disappeared and the only network icon left is the tiny picture of the computer with the globe(the one that doesn't show signal strength).
-
This happened to me. I restarted and they were not grey and I was able to check the boxes. You probably tried this but I'm just throwing it out there.

If the options are greyed out this works well,

I still can't get the signal strength icon to show though. -
If you hover cursor over wireless icon in tray that should show strength of signal for the network you are connected to.
-
That little computer icon only displays "Currently connected to: ____, Access:____"
-
And next to Access: is there not a 1 to 5 "bar graph" showing strength. Five is maximum.
-
It shows some different wireless options when clicked on and the exact strength whereas this icon:(not a screenshot from my pc) doesn't.
-
Never seen that icon that I remember.
Have you looked in "network and sharing" in control panel. Thats where all the options are.
Battery, volume, and network icons gone
