Any recommendations would be helpful, as this is very first notebook purchase.

Just ordered HP zv6000 without the Norton AV software. (Norton seems to be a resource hog, and I currently run McAfee Security Center on the desktop.) I'll be networking the HP to the desktop using a Linksys Wireless G band router with speedbooster.

    zv6000 configuration:
    XP Pro
    AMD Anthlon 64 3200+
    128MB ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
    1 Gb DDR SDram
    60 Gb 5400 RPM
    DVD+/-RW & CD-RW Combo
    54g Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth

    Thanks in advance!
    K J

    Hey Goober,
I like the Windows Firewall and Mcafee. I have always been a fan of mcafee. To be honest, i never have had a virus nor trojan while using mcafee and im on a high speed connection. Mcafee also has a very good firewall, and it makes it a breeze while networking becasue it wont interfere with the setup at all. Privacy service is nice, and the virus scan does a very good job.

Yep...I agree with nickspohn. I had a 90 day trial mcafee when I bought my laptop. And it really was great. Now the trial period is over and I am back to free stuff (AVG and ZoneAlarm)!!!

    Hi Nick!
Thanks :) ! Fast response and all...
I was actually hoping McAfee would be suggested, as I'm used to the interfacing on the desktop. Now all I have to do is wait a couple of weeks for the HP to arrive. (Build date expected 11/22) Hopefully, I'll be able to set up the network (thanks again for those suggestions). Just called the DSL folks today and increased to the ultra speed for $5 extra per month! I'm really excited, and certainly hope the hubby will enjoy having his own PC!
